Subject: Re: Getting rid of alfalfa

Radville, SK
When you find something let me know! This spring we took 1800 acres out of alfalfa and cropped it. 1150 acres to Durum and 750 to Flax.

Starting at the beginning of April, we:
1) two passes with a double disk
2) one pass with a heavy harrow to windrow the residue
3) seeded it
4) sprayed everything with glyphosate
5) sprayed the Durum with 2-4,D Ester(had no wild oats this year thanks to 5 years alfalfa)
6) sprayed the Flax with Centurion and Buctril-M
7) before harvest, sprayed everything with glyphosate once again

The alfalfa is still alive and flourishing, unfortunately. The only good thing is that with no fertilizer we achieved between 25 and 30 bu/ac Durum, and 15-20 bu/ac Flax.
