Aberdeen MS | kind of a double Ed,
as you know....the conservation tillage holds moisture.... in Aug, my beans put on new growth and there was enough to set and fill the pods. Top 6" or so have "2's" in them. Stems stayed greener, no killing frost "here" until 2 days ago. Many low areas still half green as of yesterday. Combine tires showed moisture on them at 4:00 yesterday afternoon... with a spot here and there bringing a bit of dirt up.
12.5% harvest moisture on the beans with not completely dried stems....they aren't green.... but they aren't dry either, that was yesterday. Makes for a load going through the rotor. I'm not complaining on the yields, from other reports.... mine are in the top 5%.
But someone has to be last done.... might as well be me as anyone else. At least the bright spot is the extra 5 bu +/- making it worth it.....LOL. But when trying to promote the advantages...too many "here" are still fighting for that non paying race to be first done, giving the process a negative check mark. | |
