when determining YOUR drying costs, do you account for shrink? the market price has dropped significantly, so it's not as much of an impact. But at 3.50 corn, you are losing 4.4c/pt. Elevators account for shrink as part of the charge - some have a shrink and dry where they shrink the bushels coming in and charge a drying fee. some have a flat charge that accounts for drying and shrink at a particular market price. it costs me just under 7c/bu to dry corn - that doesn't include my time.
