I don't have personal experience but know someone that installs it and have seen some fields so this is what I have learned to answer your questions.
Tape is usaully placed 5' apart but depends on crop, soil type and somewhat row spacing. Depth should be at least 14 inches. Most mole problems occur down to 10". Need to put chemicals in for mole and gopher control.
Tape should last 20 years. I know some is guarunteed 10 years or more. There is maintenace to keep it clean and etc.
Freeze/thaw is not a problem as the tape is flexible and no, you do not have to blow them out as they do drain themselves.
Length of time depends on pumping capacity and soil type. (Sandy soils will absorb water at a faster rate.)
Some brands of tape are better for compensating elevation changes that others. There are limits.
Excellent for no till.
I have seen a vegetable grower inline rip between the buried tape. Definately need RTK. He puts in a card for each field.
