The way I understood it from my seed rep who loves the twin row setup is that it only improves yield if you increase the seed population and have a monsoon planter that staggers the plants every time. He said that he would rather you plant 30's in a single row if you use the Kinze or Great Plains setup because of the erratic spacing from the twin rows, they will end up planting side by side which is terrible for yields. He was also talking about the choking out of weeds and conserving more moisture (which is turning out to be a real problem around here) with the twin row set up.
