Subject: Cotton: having hard time opening bolls?

NW Mississippi
Let me start by saying that I have a very good consultant who knows cotton as good as anyone out there, so I do not doubt the timing of the defoliation. Bolls were cut before we pulled the trigger as well as counting N.A.C.B. We put out a mixture of Dropp, Def, Finish, Prep, and AMS.
But I was wondering if anyone else was having trouble opening those upper bolls? We have about 6-8 bolls in the top 8-12 inches of a lot of the crop and many just are taking so long to open up. I know this cooler weather and a couple of cloudy days has not helped. My pilot said that guys north of us were all going with 2 shots. We have hit some of the crop with 2 shots.
Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since we defoliated our first bit (has only had one shot) and there are still enough unopened bolls out there that I would like to harvest. What would you do? I want to start picking by monday.
