Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot | FIW, share crop rents on alfalfa are common here.
Generally, landowner gets 1/3 of the crop. They only pay taxes and irrigation district assessment. Grower is responsible for everything else.
If a hay barn is provided then grower leases that as well from landlord.
All hay is stored and sold by grower and then landowner gets a check for their share.
Established or bare ground is usually treated the same way.
All ground rented around here is either on this type of arrangement or cash rent. The idea of this having landlords share in the inputs is new to me. Sounds like a PIA to me, but sounds like it is more common in the midwest. | |
