Elkmont, AL | Had the same problems on my 1680 last year. The tach would go out first then everything else would follow. Got to where I had to change the cab power solenoid ever other day. Checked the voltage coming in to the solenoid and after I turned everyting in the cab on and it checked out ok, but still had problems.
Changed batteries, rebuilt alternator and replaced voltage regulator, cleaned up grounds, checked pure wire as CW IL mentioned. Finally after I replaced the cab power solenoid for about the 4th time it has held for over a year. So go figure, I never figured out exactly what caused the problem, but I would start by cleaning grounds and maybe checking to see if the cab fan or lights are pulling excessive amps. Good luck, its kind of like finding a ghost. | |
