I took some numbers at 35% DM. But I'm a strip till guy - I know very little about silage or the grain yield vs silage yield conversion factors.

If we use your 9000 lb dry matter and 36 lb dry matter/day/cow that comes out to about 250 cow days of grazing per acre. That would be nice. If I can get them up to 50% utilization that would be 375 CD/a. If I can get 50% usage and there is really 20 t/a out there then that would get me up to about 500 CD.

We'll have to see what that acre looks like in a few days or a week. This is not a real scientific test but I'll let you know if you or anyone else is interested. I'll try to measure the area more exactly also, just stepped it off when put in the cross wires. I sure would like to know what the actual yield is on that strip tilled corn. Thanks again.
