Subject: Replacement Heifers

I know prices have dropped but what kind of ration are you all using on your replacement heifers this year?

The calves are weighing in the 500-525 range today and need to be in the 850+ range a breeding time. They are Angus Charolais cross heifers hope to breed them around May 15th so we have about 180 days to put on 300 lbs not to big of a deal. The heifers will be on stockpiled Fescue for the next 3 months then will have to go to a dry lot.

Plan to put my bred heifers on stock piled fescue as well and wait until about Jan 15th and start them on 1-2 lb of soybean meal per day until calving.

Give me some ideas what to do on these little girls.

Phil
