Should not have to take the winch off. There is no way into the steering clutch, brake compartment from the back. I have done the brakes on my D7F which should be very similar. What makes you think its brakes? I am wondering about the final drive, if it is locked up that solid. I don't think I can stop my 7 from moving with just one brake with the engine at high speed.
