Subject: best machinery/management change for 2008

Rivers, MB
Kind of curious. It seems like every farmer (at least in MB) made 1 or more machinery changes for the 2008 year or made a major change in something on their farm. Want to know. What changes were really good ones and which ones need some fine tuning. I'm not looking for the newest thing you bought but what change made the biggest impact on the management/work load of your farm.

Our best change was getting rid of one tandem grain truck and pup trailer and buying 2 highway tractors, a super B grain trailer that we split in harvest and a 45' stepdeck that we outfitted with tanks for spraying. I'd put that in the best move category. This allowed us to remove one truck driver in harvest (got moved to the grain cart that we added), haul bigger loads to the elevator (legal load of wheat is 1600bu) and allowed us to haul 5000 ga /load at a time for spraying. Adding 3 22000 bu bins with good aeration was also a close second.
