I cut the ditches with a haybine. I worry more about running over the beer bottles with the tractor tire, usually they aren't sitting high enough off the ground to get picked up by the sickle. What really bugs me is the jerk that throws them out into the field where I don't expect to see them. The idea of making one pass with a green chopper sounds appealing compared to mowing, raking, baling, and bringing the bales home. However, choppers and forage wagons are a pain to keep from breaking down on level ground, let alone dragging them through ditches for low quality hay. There has to be a better way, but chopping isn't it.
