swmn | I do. Bale around 500 5 x 6 round bales a year. Jd conventional combine. Have baled bean straw from rotaries, but is much harder to bale. Using it for bedding for fatting cattle. I use a Veermer bale processor to bed with. Bedding mounds will be firmer than cornstalks and seems to last longer and go further. 1 bale of bean straw will do the same as 1 1/2 bales of corn stalks. I bed from about Nov. to May, outside, and build a mound. Clean out once a year. One of the reasons I do bean straw is that I know I will get it baled. Not always we can get corn stalks baled because of weather. I'm in SW MN and remember a few years ago when no corn stalks got baled. Bedding scarce that year, but the guys that bale bean straw had it. Tub grinding them with hay for cows works also | |
