North Central MO | Return fuel line routes from back side Bosch pump, down and forward then crosses engine compartment under fan water pump area. Just started cutting beans, smell diesel ............................. engine compartment drenched ........................... luckily, no fire. Could have been ugly.
Check the clamps that hold the steel line, there are 3. Mine were all loose allowing vibration to wear on steel line. These are compressible clamps. Just tighten them some if you have free play. Near the inj. pump back side, there is a short section of 5/16" rubber line. Very difficult to get to the upper clamp at the pump but a good item to replace as there is no way to visibly inspect hose without removing.
This is on a 98 machine, others may be different ..............
The line in question is the line that crosses the crescent wrench in pic.
