Subject: forage chopper on roadsides

Cullom, Illinois
Every year I say I'm going to bale my roadsides and waterways as a way to have cheap feed to background cattle. But the thought of mowing, raking, baling, and picking up the hay, all on the road, deters me. What if I buy a forage chopper, a couple of forage wagons, and bag it.? One trip over seems better than four. I have about twenty miles of road sides. Will this brome bluegrass mix make very good silage. Are forage cutters very forgiving in gravel and beer bottles? More work than its worth? Seems simple enough but I know there is more to it than that. Enlighten me.
