A suggestion for when using the wire vises again is leave about 5-6" tail on it and making a smooth round bend downward staple it loose to the posts. You can then pull it back out when you need to but yet keep it from tearing you or clothes up .......and yes you are right..it will rip clothes very easily. Just curious, why were the spring type strainers falling apart ? With tension on them there shouldn't be any way they can.....never heard that problem before......now if the wires are loose, different story.
