Lancaster, OH | I believe I read that they entered into an agreement on seed treatments. This approach was a suggestion I made several years ago to "brand" the treatment like LG did with "SeedKote". Where this has apparently expanded is that Acceleron will be a brand of treatment but the active ingredients will vary by crop to address the different needs. I thought this was a good idea in that a RR corn might require a different rate/mix of treatment than say a VT3 or a SmartStax and, as a farmer, I would just want to know it was protected. Hybrid or variety selection is tough enough without the confusion of adding arguments about which treatment is better at the same time. I thought that arguing about hybrids based on whether it had Poncho or Cruiser made not sense in the real picture.
A couple of companies come to mind on the agreement and I know I just read it a few months ago but I don't remember well enough to be confident to name them. | |
