Subject: RE: Value of 3000 gal liquid hog manure

SE South Dakota
I rented a farm a few years ago and manure was available to me on this farm from two different sources. One source was a finishing barn only, we put on 5000 gallons/acre and raised very good corn. At the time I just had to pay 1/2 the application cost. Campared to todays fert bill it was like, free! The other source was from a farrow to finish barn and we applied 12000 gallons/acre. Much more water in the farrow to finish barn, ie more washing from the farrow barn, I suppose. Both did provide great corn, in the end.

You just have to know what your dealing with. If nothing else get a good sample as it is being applied and see what you've got. You will know for next time then.
