Rich, that is a silencer chute, http://www.molysilencerchutes.com/ it's allright but it will still choke a down if your not watching. It cost the vet $11,000 for the chute. He had them mount the hyd. package on top of the chute. The company that makes them doesn't like to have it there. They want the hyd. way off to the side and run hoses to it for noise reduction. In my opinion it isn't too noisey. It is a lot better chute than the Powder River he used to have.

He has a heavy built trailer that has a tilt deck / winch and the generator mounted to it that he hauls chute on. It makes it very nice to set chute up to corral. He bills us each for use of the chute, around $50 a person. That kinds of grates on everybody, but it sure speeds us up and saves on his arm over the old manual chutes. It takes a easy 1/3 or more of the preg. checking time.

As for the cow fish hook, I thought you might like that pic! It's a old drench tube with a handle on it. The hook end is about 5-6 inches long. It looks just about like a fifth wheel pin puller, just longer hook on it. Just slip it in and give old cow a yank and you have her total control of head. Cow will open her mouth, so you can feel or look at teeth. Yes we also use the two finger way as well, but this is faster, the only way on those old mean cows.

We even have one cowboy that does all our cooking for us, dutch oven dinner. You don't have to eat sandwiches on days like this. On spring branding days he will feed 80+ people. If we get any full eared calves we can't find a owner for they get sold for the group to help pay on cooks bill.
