I knew our soils were different - ours can make 85bu corn without fert - dad did it all the time.

When I started with soil tests, I figured wouldn't even register.... Actually, 1/2 my farm was still right on, only needs maintenence rates. Other 1/2 has all sorts of problems, mostly too much water in yellow clay. Funny, the low side is the one that gets most of the manure.

Just went through the livestock permitting process - interesting. Bottom line, my hugh feedlot (I mostly graze these days, very little feed) of less than 30 head is ok. They liked the berm dad's cattle created 30 years ago, was a 'good' feature.... I have so little manure it was hard to explain an application program....
