Not the highest yield, my statement was that the sidedress had the highest nitrogen availability in the tissue tests. Most years our fall applied AA is our best yielding corn.

Biggest reason for not being 100% sidedress is manpower & time. I have seen first hand what happens when you don't get the AA on. Guy I use to custom harvest for got rained out before he could get his on, a good 70-80 bpa less in yield compared to where it was on.

Last year we went all fall applied because of looming price hikes in AA. If time premits we will go all fall AA this year, next year we are switching to 20" corn so that will decreese the time available for sidedressing plus would require equipment & tire modifications.
