I've had the best luck skinning the dead calf and tying it around the new calf's neck. After a couple days its probably too dried out so it might not work. Fought with one cow that just didn't want her own calf. Tied her up and she still kicked it away, put on a can't kick and tied her feet so she wouldn't kick it. Did that for 3 weeks, but she still wouldn't let it suck on its own. Should have shipped the cow, but it got bred and the next time around she was bad the first day and then was fine after that. I think we need a cow psychiatrist. Hitting the cow doesn't do any good. Making hamburger out of it is a reasonable solution sometimes.
