Because demand has gone up faster than they can increase supply. China, India, Argentina, Ukraine, among others, are greatly increasing fertilizer usage. China and India up to 300% each. The U.S. is no longer the gorilla in the room on fertilizer usage. Supposedly Potash retained a certain percentage for U.S. usage and said take it or leave it.
