Nebraska | I plan to be done harvesting when corn is 15%. Anything that you deliver to the elevator under that moisture you are losing some for of cash. Perfect harvest is 18% moisture for me then air dry in the bin to 15 - 15.5%. Anything over 20% moisture will for sure get heat put on it through the dryer then cooled off in the storage bin. The corn when brought to a temp of 120 to 140 degrees will have the ability to drop to 15% moisture in the storage bin with no problems.
Noticed your loacation. We are dealing with a much shorter window of harvest opportunity than you I assume and drying conditions with air depend on humidity, temp and total EMC of the air. | |
