Wheatley, Arkansas | We have harvested a little over 400 acres of corn, all irrigated, moisture has ranged from 25-20. Our fields are somewhat muddy with the duals on the combine staying balled up about 1/3 of the time. Our corn crop thus far has not been what we've grown accustomed to over the last few years. Of the fields we have harvested our best has been around 155-165, however we had one field that had pollination problems that looks like 70-80 will be an optimistic yield. I'm hoping that we are at 150 by the end of the season but I'm beginning to think 135-140 might be closer. I realize that the AR corn crop will have nil effect on the national scene, however I have to wonder how many more surprises this corn crop has left in it nationally. These truly are interesting times we're in. I guess we won't be looking at any new paint this year, just try to dodge any bullets and hope for the best next year. | |
