Subject: Re: Corn progress?

Kalona, IA
I planted 70% of my corn June 20-21 and it has nice looking ears and GREEN plants and at the same stage as Dan_wcIN. Except for my LG 2545 which has ugly BEER CAN ears!!! To cool while pollinating! Usually you would be afraid of the heat in Aug! Not this strange year. I think that most of us guys who planted so late are quiet because we are very apprehensive about our chances of the corn making it before the frost hits. My beans are finally starting to fill the pods. Lots are still very skinny and thin. This crop WILL get smaller from now till the last report in Jan. I do not look forward to harvest!

Heard one climatologist say that we have gone 3 mo. w/o any sunspots and he thinks that's why it has been so cool and he believes that we could be headed towards global cooling. Sure hope not. Global warming suits me better!
