Ashburn, GA, (very close to Heaven!) | Jon S - 9/9/2008 20:13 Those are great points Carl. I'm trying to figure out why a 5-10-15 would be a good ratio for Corn. You and I both! Especially when you only need three to five pounds of zinc, and you are getting eight to ten. On top of that, you may be shorting the K for our soils at that....
I think the "fancy named" fertilizers are a joke for the most part. But, I've made that well known in previous posts I guess. One thing is that you are getting a more uniform fertilizer. I don't buy the "every particle, every grit, every grain" sales pitch, but there is value in the uniformity. You perhaps have some increased assurance that it meets guaranteed analysis. You don't have to worry about particle segregation. When ordering blends: - Order your fertilizer in raw units of N, P, K, Mg, S, etc.
- Better yet, order in pounds per acre of DAP, KCL, ANF, AS, KMag, etc.
- Avoid blends that contain ANY filler.
- Be sure the dealer has two qualities
- integrity, as in he delivers what he sells.
- ability, as in he knows how to put it together right, and how to set up equipment to spread it right.
