Subject: Re: Corn progress?

East Central MO-Audrain/Pike Counties
I was just in corn that was planted June 22. It is just ready to dent. We had 4.7in of rain last week and have not really hurt for moisture this summer. The most interesting thing is that the clay spots on this late corn are 2ft. shorter and have been pale all summer and in the last 2 weeks have turned dark green and have a half decent ear on them. Ears in the good spots are 16x 38 long @27,000 pop. Earworms are real bad in all late planted corn I've been in. If we can hold the frost off I think it may be better than our corn last year (drought) that was planted in April.
