Driftless SW Wisconsin

I looked up at the outside temperature reading in the headliner of my Dodge and was surprised to see it reading 37 degrees a couple hours ago driving north along the MN/SD border on the way to Big Iron.

I have seen some very nice but very green corn in many areas. My own late planted corn seems to be just sitting there not doing much of anything at these temps.

Speaking of corn there was an interesting array of corn through Iowa earlier today - some in central IA seemed to be maturing normally more or less turning brown from the bottom or uniformly.

But there was a LOT of strangely yellow corn. Most was green at the bottom and yellow towards the top. This looked like late season N deficiency to me. Then there was a fair amount of just plain yellow corn from top to bottom. Not brown but yellow.

This crop isn't in the bins yet. jmho.
