Subject: My take on it

Sumner GA, Located in southwest GA,
Much as I hate to say it, you may be right, this _____ pigweed is coming on with an avengance around here. Seen everything but flame cultivation used and it is still there. I think between the increase in price for roundup and the pigweed problem, you will see a lot more tillage next spring and alot of preemerge put out. Scary stuff, and while I do not advocate tillage, the people who don't use a cover crop will be the ones that will have to till if they want a crop. Would not be so bad if we could just learn to keep the residue on top. I would like to see someone demo a blade plow like the guys out west use. That seems to me to be the best way to take out the weeds and not bury everything. I think it would beat a harrow in a conservation setting. Whatever we do, we're going to have to think out of the box to defeat this weed.
