Looks like bear damage to me also. We usually lose a few acres each year, most fields are small (10-30 acres) and surrounded on at least 2 sides by bush. Custom chopped a field for a neighbor last year, had to wait 2 weeks because of rain, guesstimate he lost 25-30 % of the cobs on the 15 acre field to bears. Was packin' in the silage truck, but never did get a shot off.
Any ideas what did this in the corn? 4 pictures
