Northeast Louisiana
We have a good many black bear here in northeast Louisiana, and this sure looks like bear damage to me. I've never seen coons do this much damage, and the eating pattern doesn't look like coons either. The only other animal I've seen make this kind of mess is feral hogs, but with them everything will be flat, and you'll probably have a lot of spots like this all over the field, not just one.

So, my bet is black bear.
