Brazilton KS | I'm out of my area of expertise talking about quackgrass, but the concept of controlling it with Assure II and missing it with Select leads me think of johnsongrass and shattercane and wonder if the Select was applied at too high of a rate. When spraying shattercane or johnsongrass I usually use Assure II because it is a little less effective of a grass herbicide and it is easier to get a good kill with it. I have successfully killed those two with select, but it requires a very low rate. Application of Select at a substantial rate targeting a tougher grass such as crabgrass will result in burning the top off of the shattercane or johnsongrass without translocating and in a week it will be back. The assure II is a slower kill as well as simply requiring a higher rate to get similar activity and seems to not have this problem as often.
