Subject: RE: Moving/taking down grain bins

s.c. north dakota
I Got 2 18' MK hopper cones with 45 degree cones 4 years ago. We put 5 ring Butler bins on them. These were old Gov. bins that had that 1 ring high door that I was really happy to get rid of. I did not have to move them further than across the yard, so I can't tell you much about that but we did put them on the cones our selves. We rented a crane that uses a tractor to operate it to lift and move them. I was really happy with the way they fit and work, but this summer the bolts on the bottom of the stiffeners broke and allowed the bottom sheet to wrinkle. We had them on every seam but I guess that wasn't enough. My neighbor has the same thing happen to his and he had the bottom sheet cut of just above the wrinkle and the bin lowered and twice as many stiffeners put on with bigger bolts where it attaches to the hopper. We both came to the same conclusion, that we probably would have been ahead just buying hopper bins. Have you priced same sized hoppers? Rob D
