Subject: RE: APP outbreak

Give every pig in the building 5cc twinpen. Then do the things you were talking about for any secondary infections. All in All out is a must now. We dont vaccinate for it but 7,8 years ago we had a couple of outbreaks of APP. Pigs could look good in the morning and by late afternoon you would be in a hell of a shape. Brother and I got pretty good at seeing the tell tell signs of an outbreak right before it got bad. We keep a case of twin pen in the fridge and it always brings a smile on our face when it goes out of date instead of being used. Usually happened when the pigs hit that 120lb range. Vet said that was around the time the pigs would loose their immunity from the sow and the worst breaks would occur in pigs from a set of gilts.
