NW Tennessee | I started chewing in high school, then dipping later on. Only did it when I was working or hunting, so I figured it wasn't too bad, cause I didn't do it all the time. Then i realized I'd been doing it for 15-20 years "part-time". Plus, my dental hygienist would get on my case every time I got my teeth cleaned about the stains and warning me about my gums, besides the oral cancer threat. And my wife and two young daughters at the time never ceased to tell me how "gross" it was. So, I decided to quit. Since I sometimes went for days at a time without dipping, I don't think I ever had a physical addiction so that made it easier for me than most. Still, for a few years whenever I'd see or smell someone loading up, I was tempted. Still am, occasionally, just not as strongly or as often. It's been 10 or 12 years since I quit. Good luck! | |
