| Realize that tobacco use is the single leading cause of oral cancers. Smoking AND chewing.
Oral cancer patients have a very poor prognosis following diagnosis. Less than half of all patients diagnosed with oral cancer survive more than 5 years post diagnosis. That should be reason to quit.
Your dentist should be checking for suspicious leasions during your dental check-ups. If you think that he/she is not, ask them to do so. Most of the "high risk" areas are places in your mouth that you would not normally notice. | |
