I said to him, "Geez, that stuff looks like its trying to grow into a six row" Thats exactly what it looks like. It is a two row, malt barley, called CDC Copeland. It didnt do that last year, though, on any that I can remember. Could it be due to the severe lack of moisture? Here is a pic of where it is thin, due to drought conditions. However, down near the bottom of the hill, where the crop is thickest, due to a bit of subsoil moisture, the mutations look the worst. I was hoping to keep next years seed from this batch, but now Im hesitant. Anyways, here is a pic of the thin spots up on the hill.
