E.Central MN | We had the same accidental starter/no starter last year and noticed the difference in growth. Emergence was the same across all the rows, but the rows without starter did lag behind the rest. My brother asked me if I had a different kind of seed in a couple rows on the planter. I had sheared a cotter pin on one of the dry fertilizer augers and didn't catch it right away. On a normal year it probably wouldn't make a difference, but we were extremely dry last summer. Made me re-think the value of starter fertilizer even before the price spike. | |
