Yes, we have been irrigating the field of grass/buckwheat but don't have the water to do everything.

We have 8 ewes and had 17 lambs. Not much.. They are not on the pasture during the winter time. We have them locked up in the barn on raised flooring. We started out this spring with them being in each field for 7 days. Which mean they were back on the same pasture in 21 days but with us keeping them out of the one field, that only left us with three fields. After we moved the sheep, we would mow the field at 5" to cut down anything they didn't eat. Split the fields in half again with electric wire for next spring? We would have to get more pipe to carry the water to the lower fields but we would probably be able to irrigate everything if the usage was spread out more.

We have water tubs in every field but the sheep run in and out of the barn probably about every half an hour. We just don't understand.....

I know they say sheep are pro's at compacting the soil. How many years until we should work the soil? Go through and completely rip and disk or just pull something that will loosen up the earth a bit?

I am always interested to hear how other people are doing things and pictures are always a big plus. :)
