KS | We try to run about 1" per week and run steady unless there is a rain event. When pods are filling, water demand is at its peak, about .3" per day, so you have to keep after it. One thing is to not get behind. If you have stretch of hot, dry and windy days, you may not be able to catch up. Depends on your soil... No sense in letting the crop suffer after you have made the investment in the irrigation equipment. With $4+ diesel fuel, it is hard to keep the water running but we need every bushel possible to cover all our costs. | |
