Protein and quality-wise, Pofarmer is probably right. But we round baled some double-crop beans last fall for cow hay, and it worked out well...cows loved it, we were short of hay, did more good as hay than taking them to harvest. The DC beans we did harvest made about 4 bu/ac (planted too late, no rain). These beans we cut for hay had small beans just forming in the pods. Stems were not real thick yet.

We cut and laid in a medium swath in October with a discbine. Raked with a double rotary rake into quad windrows, baled and net wrapped. Tend to have some dirt in the bale, but not bad. Alittle harder on equipment because of the dirt/dust. Wrapping for silage also sounds like a good idea.
