Border sprays wouldnt work for aphids. - as it was pointed out earlier in this thread. Highly mobile and "chance" feeders - meaning they probe a green foliage and if they like it they stay - if not they fly to another green crop. This is how they can be very good vectors of certain viruses - luckily none in soys.

Another note mentioned by yet another poster - on imidacloprid - I use that too - in the form of Leverage - has pretty good knockdown and the imidacloprid wont get washed off - its in the plant.
