Does anyone ever try to spray the beetles before there are gravid females? I know this is a tricky operation, but it was the MO for corn-on-corn guys in western KS for many years. I don't know if they still do it, I think the hatches started to get too spread out to catch them all in at once. If all you cornbelt guys are going to fly on a fungicide anyways, a little bug juice doesn't cost much. If the beetles can all be controlled for $10/acre with a plane, why pay for CRW, HXX, or soil insecticide?
Those stupid bugs seem to have a strong will to be destructive. Good luck with your battle. | |
