I believe the term is either "atresi ani" or "atresia ani". According to one page I found it is supposed to be the most common intestinal defect in animals. I wasn't able to find much on it, but an article about this condition in pigs suggests it it hereditary. ( see http://www.thepigsite.com/diseaseinfo/9/atresia-ani-no-anus-or-no-rectum )
