This just something I have heard, so take it for what it's worth, but if it works it's an easy fix. Throw some copper pipe in your tank, they say it will get rid of it. Kinda makes sense, we use copper sulfate in ponds, don't know if I'd try it in a water tank for cattle. My brother gave my niece some to put in her water garden, which she had fish in, and some of the fish didn't fare too well.
