I would suggest using a Ipaq with Farmworks Sitemate Scouting software. For the gps I would probably go with the Holux GM 210 unit or a similar one. A IFB 2 box will allow you to switch logging on and of with a toggle switch or a push button. I don't remember right now if you can easily make the connections to the IFB box with the Holux cableing. I normally use this with my Rven 210 gps. I don't think the IFB allows you to Log points with the switch but you can use paths set to whatever with you want and just log for the distance you want. What ever you buy try to by a complete package with all the cableing that you will need included in the price. Some of these cables can be quite expensive.
