![](/profile/get-photo.asp?memberid=237&type=profile&rnd=919) Woodham, Ontario | Currently we only grow feed for our dairy cows, our rotation is something like 4 years alfalfa and then 6 years corn. growing corn year after year has worked out well, but requires a lot of fertilizer and technology fees. We are trying to expand our land base and considering growing some soybeans to increase rotation. Basically trying to lower pest pressure and get some residual nitrogen into the ground to reduce fertilizer requirements.
How much nitrogen will soybeans put into the ground that corn can use?
Will it actually help reduce pest pressure, particularly rootworm? We can currently use Poncho250 on alfalfa land, but really need P1250 on the corn-on-corn acres. Triple stacked corn has worked too, but that is not cheap and haven't seen any silage varieties yet. | |
