It sounds too me like you already see the huge potential cost savings by moving to an autosteer unit. My suggestion is that you choose an autosteer unit that will be user friendly, with good performance. After all if the autosteer is frustrating to use your dad may just get mad and turn it off. That is what happened on my farm when we first got autosteer, but he got the hang of it by the second year.
